Many parents are now ready to hit the road thanks to the Hattiesburg Police Department. Parents had their child's car seat safely secured on Friday. HPD took the time out and strapped car seats for three hours outside of Dillard’s parking lot. The police department understands that it's summer time and that means vacation time, so they want to make sure everyone is correctly strapped down to their vehicles, including babies.“We want to make sure that the child is properly secured so that they're safe if they're involved in a crash,” said HPD Public Information Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler.
The Hattiesburg Fire Department also took part in the child's safety car seat checkpoint.
