LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

At only three months, Breanna Harvey had to undergo heart surgery.

"She had five holes in her heart when she was born," said mother, Sabrina Harvey. "I was in fear that we may lose her, and there was a chance we could have."

Doctors told Sabrina and her husband that Breanna would need blood. So with the help of United Blood Services, a blood drive was set up in Laurel for Breanna.

"Without somebody else, that somebody else being out there that donated, she probably wouldn't of made it," said Sabrina.

Thankfully, Breanna received the blood she needed and had a successful heart surgery.

"She's two-and-a-half now, rotten, wide-open like nothings ever happened to her," said Sabrina.

Blood donors not only saved Breanna's life, but ever since her heart surgery, Sabrina takes it upon herself to donate blood every eight weeks.

"I know it does help save people," said Sabrina.

Not only does Sabrina encourage everyone who can, to donate blood, but she is grateful for those who took the time out to save her daughters life.

"I'd say thank you because their blood did help save my baby's life and probably several other babies lives," said Sabrina.

Help save lives on July 30. Come out to Chris Posey or Kim's No Bull in Laurel and donate blood from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

If you're planning to donate you can call ahead of time at 601-264-0743. You can also save extra time and go online HERE  and fill out your health history interview form an hour before you go donate blood.
