Front St. building under renovation, offers retail and living space
Another downtown building is under renovation, offering retail and living space, which will complete the revitalization of East Front Street. The building, which was built in 1898, sits between Oddfellows Art Gallery and Southeast Mississippi Legal Services on Front Street.
The 3,600 square foot building is owner by Charles Price, who also owns Oddfellows. He chose to renovate because it would enhance Oddfellows. He also says it's surrounded by rich assets such as the Saenger Theater, the public library, and the train station.
The apartments are expected to draw in those with an appreciation for urban life.
"It's an excellent place for artistic people that are creative, who love food, entertainment, and art," Price said.
The complex includes three apartments with a balcony, including a retail space on the first floor. The project is expected to wrap up around Christmastime, and prices to rent an apartment have not been decided yet. Price says his new addition will add a little color and flavor to Front Street.
