ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) -

Authorities have identified a truck driver who was killed late Tuesday night on Interstate 59 in Ellisville when his tractor-trailer rear-ended another truck as it was slowing down near the scene of an accident.  Jones County authorities said Eric Lauterjung, 39, of Scottsville, Kentucky, died just after 10 p.m. when his MS Express truck ran into the back of another 18-wheeler, which was carrying steel tubing.

That truck had slowed down with other traffic because of a two-vehicle accident just a short distance up the road.

After the victim collided with the truck, it rear-ended an SUV.  The driver of that vehicle and the second truck were not injured.

Officials said there were minor injuries in the other accident.

Both northbound lanes of the interstate around the accident were closed for more than ten hours while emergency responders cleared the scene.
