NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Country Music Association is looking for a new CEO after its leader of the past several years resigned Sunday.

Steve Moore turned in his resignation effective June 30, according to the CMA Board of Directors.

Moore had served as a member of the CMA board since 1989.

When he first moved to Music City four years later, he was responsible for opening Starwood Amphitheater.

Moore was elected CMA president in 2008 and chairman in 2009 before being asked to fill in as interim director after former CEO Tammy Genovese resigned in December 2009.
