There are new details about why a Metro police officer was arrested last month.
Metro officer Ernest Wilson, 43, was decommissioned when his wife frantically called 911 and said Wilson pushed her into a wall.
Police had been investigating the allegations, but took him into custody Thursday and formally charged him with misdemeanor domestic assault.
Police said Wilson and his wife got into a big fight and Wilson shoved his wife while holding a large box full of pictures. The incident happened at the couple's house May 13.
The officer has worked with Nashville's police department for eight years and was last working at the north precinct.
The department's professional accountability office is conducting a separate investigation into what happened.
