19-year-old shot in University Court area

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A shooting in the University Court area early Monday morning has injured a 19-year-old man.

Police said the shooting occurred around 3:54 a.m.

The victim transported himself to Vanderbilt Medical Center after being shot once in the right calf.

The victim said he was walking in the area to visit family and friends when he heard shots fired.

The 19-year-old said he then realized he had been shot one time in the leg.

Officer said the motive is unclear.  Police do not have a description of the shooter.
