Former Hattiesburg court clerk sues mayor, council members
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
One of the clerks named in a scathing police report alleging incompetence in the Hattiesburg city court system is now suing Mayor Johnny DuPree and some members of the city council for slander.
Sharon Mark was suspended and later transferred to another department after a police investigation found a major lack of competence within the court system and inappropriate conduct between judges and clerks. In her lawsuit, Mark claims statements and actions by DuPree, Council President Kim Bradley, and other unnamed council members amounts to slander, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. She wants a trial by jury and unspecified damages, and her old job back.
