(RNN) - Kelly Clarkson is set to head to the chapel in October. In her brand-new single released Tuesday, she's already there.
"Every wall needs a frame, every ball needs a chain, I'm talkin' about tying the knot," she wails in Tie it Up.
And it is unapologetically country.
All banjos and twangy electric guitars, it's not her classic pump-your-fist, synth-driven pop and dance song. Clarkson even debuted the song during the CMA Festival week.
Clarkson's marrying the stepson of country legend Reba McEntire. We're guessing her future stepmother-in-law is country proud.
Mimi pushes back album release
Mariah Carey fans have to wait a little longer to get their hands on her new album.
Mimi has pushed back the release date of The Art of Letting Go. The album was supposed to drop on July 23.
"While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23," she tweeted. "I'd rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it's meant to be heard," and promised Twitter followers would be the first to know when the new release date comes down.
The refreshing sounds of Young Summer
Young Summer, the name of singer-songwriter Bobbie Allen's new musical venture, performs soulful music that is both captivating and refreshing.
While Young Summer's music and sound is light and smooth, the lyrics are heavy and brutally honest.
"It's extremely honest music," Allen explained in an interview with Paste. "It really is no-holds-barred in its honesty. It feels that way when you hear it because that concept is very deliberate. That's the thread that brings all of the songs together and makes them related."
Allen's sound echoes that of Florence and the Machine, Frou Frou and even a hint of Norah Jones.
Young Summer teamed up with Trent Dabbs to release the single Fever Dream in March. She released an EP by the same name in early June, which is available for purchase on iTunes.
If you're new to Young Summer, you can listen to songs from Fever Dream on Daytrotter and also download free music from the band on NoiseTrade.
Country artists sing for tornado relief
Oklahoma native Carrie Underwood has added her vocals to Toby Keith's Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert. Because she's already performing in Nashville on July 6, the night of the show, she'll join the concert in Norman, OK, via satellite.
Artists performing in the flesh include Keith, Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks and Willie Nelson, among others.
Two rounds of deadly tornadoes hit the state in May, one taking aim at Keith's hometown. So the investment for him is personal.
"I grew up in Moore, I live in Norman and I've got lots of family and friends who were directly affected," Keith said. "I know these folks and they're resilient, but we're going to keep helping them any way we can."
Keith is just one of a handful of country artists who call the state home. Fellow Okie Blake Shelton also held a relief concert, raising more than $6 million.
Adele may have gotten her heart broken (and after purging her emotions recording a cathartic album, laughed all the way to the Grammys), but an emotionally drenched pop ballad is a far cry from the blues.
Enter ZZ Ward, a soulful singer with all the power of Adele, with the gritty, blues-soaked guitar to back her up.
Ward's EP 365 Days dropped June 11 and fuses blues with the subtleties of R&B.
