Fathers and daughters put on their dancing shoes in Avondale

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Father's Day is this weekend and CBS 5 found a unique gift for daughters to give their fathers or father figures.

A Father Daughter Grand Ball will be held in a couple of weeks at the Wigwam Resort.

The city of Avondale is putting the event together.

The night starts out with an Italian buffet and a performance from the dancers at the Peigne Dance Studio.

"They're going to actually perform one specific type of dance and then offer the opportunity for the fathers and daughters to learn that dance and then perform it themselves," said Laura Sauls from the city of Avondale.

Stephanie Montejano and Tristan Peigne will teach three dances, including the fox trot, the tango and the cha-cha/salsa.

"It's a lot of fun to teach brand new students ... the smiles on their face," said the owner of the Peigne Dance Studio, Tristan Peigne.

Terry and Marissa Lynch have been taking lessons for Marissa's upcoming wedding. They said they both love dancing together.

"It makes you relax and it also brings a smile to your face because you can't be upset, angry, stressed out when you're dancing," said Terry Lynch.

"It's usually stepping on each other's toes and laughing at it," said Marissa Lynch.

The cost of the dance is $75 per pair for Avondale residents. For those that don't live in Avondale, the cost is $80 per pair.
