(RNN) - A British man called police to complain that a sex worker he visited did not appear as advertised.

The man, whose name was not released, said he wanted "to report her for breaching the Sale of Goods Act."

The UK's Sale of Goods Act of 1979 mandates that goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose.

In a phone call to police, the man says, "What happened is basically this woman advertised in the newspaper for private services like massage and stuff … and when I come here, she has misdescribed herself and misrepresented herself totally."

He went on to tell the police that the sex worker became angry because he refused to use her services.

"Obviously she thinks I owe her a living or something, you know what I mean?" he said.

The police responded by telling the man that the woman had done nothing illegal. However, he was breaking the law because soliciting sex is a minor crime in the UK.

Police also sent a letter of warning to his residence.

"Wasting police time is a serious offence and carries a maximum sentence of six months' imprisonment," said a police spokesman, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
