PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A man is recovering after he fell on Metro Light Rail tracks as a slow-moving train was approaching the platform, Phoenix police said.

"As the Light Rail vehicle came in, the male appeared to lose his balance and fall in front on the oncoming light rail vehicle," said Phoenix police Sgt. Jeff Fields.

Paramedics from the Phoenix Fire Department arrived at 19th Avenue and Camelback Road, treated the man for head lacerations and took him to St. Joseph's Hospital.

Police said it appeared the man had been drinking.
