An internationally-renowned musician who grew up in Lamar County will headline the opening night of the 4th annual FestivalSouth in Hattiesburg. Trombonist and arranger Tom "Bones" Malone will perform with the Blues Brotherhood at the Saenger Theater Saturday evening.

Malone met with festival organizers at the saenger Friday morning. He grew up in Sumrall and also attended Southern Miss. He was in the original Blues Brothers movie and has played in David Letterman's CBS Orchestra for years.

"This is my first appearance at FestivalSouth and I'm really excited and honored to be the opening act for the festival this year," said Malone. "Come on out, bring your shades, don't miss this band. Any Blues Brothers fans are going to love this band," he said.

"The way people find out about our festival is to go to www.festivalsouth.org, that's our website," said Dr. Jay Dean, artistic director for FestivalSouth. "And to buy tickets, they can do it through the website there, or they can go to the Ferlise Center on 4th Street.

This year's festival will feature 57 different musical performances at many different venues over a two-week period.
