1,400 residents and businesses in Seminary lost power Saturday when a fire occurred at a Southern Pine Electric Power Assocation substation on Highway 49.
Details are incomplete, but Collins Assistant Fire Chief Mason Pope said the incident happened about 3:45 p.m.
He said the fire was contained to the substation area and was allowed to burn itself out.
Dan Davis, manager of marketing and public relations for the power company said a crew has been working at the scene to restore power. At 7:30 p.m., he said it could take another 2-3 hours to restore power.
He also said the cause of the fire has not been determined.
