Jones County TRIAD holds Senior Safety Healthcare Day

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Jones County TRIAD/S.A.L.T. Council held their 5th Annual Senior Safety Health Care/ Prescription Drug Take Back Day at the Saw Mill Square Mall in Laurel Friday.

Tables were set up in center court where seniors could take advantage of getting their blood pressure and cholesterol checks and diabetes screening. Several organizations were there with information on services in the area available to seniors.

The Jones County Sheriff's Department and the District Attorney's Office gave out educational material on how to stay save from crime.

"What we try to do is put out the word about crime in our area," said Debra Warren, Chairman, TRIAD/S.A.L.T. Council. "The TRIAD Council was developed through the sheriff's department of our counties and that happens to be Jones County in our area."

In conjunction with the health fair, a box was set up for folks to turn in the expired prescription drugs to be safely disposed of.
