Johnny Magee says he brings experience and leadership to the job

Laurel Ward 6 Councilman Johnny Magee said in order to move the city of Laurel forward the new mayor needs experience and the knowledge of city business to get the job done.

Magee said that is why he is running for the city's top job.

With only days away from the general mayoral election, Laurel's democratic candidate Johnny Magee is going from place to place asking residents for their votes.

Magee said, "I have 16years of city counsel experience. I have 23 years of total government experience. That experience will play well again with working with the city counsel, dealing with the various departments in the city, dealing with the economic development authority, dealing with the supervisors, you get to know people during that time. I know these people, I  know how to work with these people and from day one we will be ready to move the city forward."

Magee said, "Having experience doesn't mean that he will bring the same old same old mentality to the job."

He said, "My leadership style will be different. It will be hands on leadership, but it will be different. It will be knowing what going on in the city at all time, knowing where all the pot holes are, knowing where all the pipes are, knowing where the roads that need to be paved, I'll be knowing what's going on in the city."

Magee said, "He desires to build an all inclusive community and make neighborhoods more inviting to live."

Magee said, "My leadership style will be one of cooperation, not only with the city counsel and the various departments, but also with departments outside the city."

Magee will face off against two independent candidates Ken Keyes and Anthony Hudson.
