Daylily show Saturday at Lake Terrace Convention Center

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Daylily enthusiasts will show off their prize flowers Saturday at the Lake Terrace Convention Center during the 18th Annual Daylily show.

This year's event is titled "It's all about Daylilies". Activities begin at 7:30 a.m. when judges will begin to evaluate the flowers in several difference categories to include bloom, design, and a special youth division. Once the judging is complete at about 1 p.m. the doors will be opened to the public where the winners and all the other entries will be on display.

As part of this years show, in a separate room, the Mississippi Flower Show Judges Council will hold an additional flower show.

Beginning at 10:30 a.m. daylily plants will be available for sale to the public.

"It's a wonderful flower to put in your garden," said Jon Tibbets, Show Chair. "It is a perennial which does very well in our area because of our weather and you get re-blooms throughout the season."

The show is accredited by the American Hemerocallis Society and is one of the largest in the country.
