Seminary remembers their fallen heroes

Posted: Updated:

Residents of the Town of Seminary came together Monday to remember their local heroes who died in combat.

For the past 26-years many of the town folk have gathered at the Main St. War Memorial that bears the name of the 17 men who have perished in combat dating back to World War Two.

The Seminary War Memorial Association sponsors the ceremony each year.

During the ceremony the names of each of the men were read aloud and miniature American flags were given to each of the families in attendance. As in past years, a wreath to honor each of the men was laid at the base of the monument.

"Freedom doesn't come cheap," said Troy Aultman, relative of one of the fallen heroes. "I had several close calls but didn't get injured, Freedom is not cheap."

"Seminary is a quaint town and is probably more patriotic than most places," said William Morris, Seminary resident.

The Seminary Memorial Day Remembrance has been going on since 1988.
