Hattiesburg church holds Memorial Day service

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Rawls Springs Baptist Church in Hattiesburg held a Memorial Day Service on Sunday.

The church not only took the time out to honor all veterans, but also honored all branches of military service.

With the help of Camp Shelby troops, a presentation of the different service flags was held, along with a 21-gun salute.

The church believes it's important to not only honor all fallen heroes, but to also honor the living veterans in the community.

“We have a lot of veterans in the community, we have a lot of veterans in our church, and we think this is a very important day in the life of our country,” said Rawls Springs Baptist Church Pastor, Rev. Michael Morgan. “We do this every year to honor them and their sacrifices to protect our freedoms in the world and at home.”

Along with the Camp Shelby troops, veterans and members of the church also stood by their branch service flags as they were honored.
