SMITH COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The Smith County Sheriff's Department is searching for three inmates who escaped Smith County Jail early Sunday morning.

According to Sheriff Charlie Crumpton,  at approximately 10:15 a.m., 31-year-old Gregory Tynon Jones from Jasper County and 32-year-old Terry Bynum from Smith County, both escaped by going over a 12 ft. wall that has four layers of razor wire on top.

The third inmate, 39-year-old William Shannon Burnham from Rankin County, is a trustee and walked out through the front door of the Smith County Jail.
