Turtle Creek Mall hosts Memorial Day Weekend Autograph Party

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Turtle Creek Mall partnered with The Leaf Foundation on Saturday to host its first annual Memorial Day Weekend Autograph Party for contestants in the upcoming Miss Mississippi pageant.

Residents from all over the Pine Belt stopped by the mall to meet, greet, and get signed autographs from statewide local titleholders from both the Miss and Teen divisions of the pageant. The event also included special guest reigning Miss Mississippi Marie Wicks, whose appearance was sponsored by Forrest General Hospital’s Spirit of Women.

“It's just such an honor and a pleasure to be here in Hattiesburg,” said Wicks. “I'm from the Gulf Coast myself, so it's a very special place in my heart for me.”

The autograph party not only allows pageant participants to network, but also brings more awareness to the pageant's scholarship program.

“This is the largest scholarship opportunity for young women in our nation,” said The Leaf Foundation, Terry Fleming. “The Leaf Foundation actually provides a full four-year tuition for our girls that win that pageant.”

The teen contestants will compete for Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen next week in Vicksburg. Miss Contestants will compete July 10 – 13 in Vicksburg as well for the title of Miss Mississippi.
