Residents of the Collins Veterans Home who passed away in 2012 were remembered Friday during a Memorial Day Celebration at the home.
Veterans Outreach helped put in the celebration. They provided a barbeque lunch for the event.
The group reaches out to the residents throughout the year providing holiday and special occasion meals so the veterans in the home can enjoy just as everyone else does. Over the years the group has provided numerous items that help make the quality of life for the veterans better.
The celebration also served as an open house where the community was invited to see the facility.
"We want our community to come in and visit with our men and women and see the wonderful home that they live in and just meet and talk with them and enjoy them like we do everyday," said Tommie Carr, Home Administrator.
Veterans Outreach is an all volunteeer group formed to provide aid and comfort to the veterans residing at the Collins home.
