Everyone knows when Jimmy Dunkle comes to the plate at Petal's Optimist Park. The stands are packed with fans cheering and chanting his name.
Jimmy plays in the 9 to 10-year-old little league in Petal, and he has Down's Syndrome. However, that does not stop him from taking the field and scoring for his team.
Every time Jimmy comes to bat he hits a home run, with a little help from the opposing team. He rounds the bases and is greeted by all his teammates to congratulate him at home plate while the packed bleachers cheer for him. Jimmy's mother Nicholle Dunkle says being able to play the game he loves means the world to Jimmy.
"The reaction is wonderful. He just goes on for hours, and he's hard to settle down. It's wonderful, and to see the kids react to him is absolutely great."
Jimmy and his team finish up their season on Friday night.
