PETAL, MS (WDAM) -

The eleven law enforcement officers from Forrest County who've lost their lives in the line of duty were remembered in an annual ceremony in Petal Thursday night.

Candles were lit to honor five Forrest County Sheriff's Department deputies, four Hattiesburg police officers and two state troopers who've made the supreme sacrifice for their communities.

Petal Police joined family members of the fallen officers and officers from other departments for the service.

"Even though we've never had anybody in Petal that was killed in the line of duty, we feel it's an honor and a privilege to remember those officers that were killed in the line of duty," said Leonard Fuller, chief of the Petal Police Department.

State Representative Larry Byrd was guest speaker for the service.
