Medicaid Expansion fight continues

State democratic leader Bobby Moak released a statement Monday affirming The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services will cut Medicare Dish Payments for states failing to expand Medicaid beginning January 2014. Governor Bryant and state republicans held the position that the federal government would not cut these payments which are vital to offset the losses of hospitals that care for uninsured patients.

State Representative Percy Watson says, "We're trying to do all that we can to do something to enhance the lives of Mississippians, and so we probably need to talk more. We probably need to listen to each other's position and hopefully during that process we will be able to come to some type of solution."

The state senate and house await a special called session to discuss at least Medicaid renewal, if not expansion. The current Medicaid Bill is set to expire June 30th.
