Search for Jones County 15-year-old ends, suspect charged with kidnapping

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on kidnapping charges in the case of a missing Ovett girl.

The Jones County Sheriff's Department says 15-year-old Courtney Dawn Beech was found along with 20-year-old Bradley Simon. Authorities say they were hiding in a tent in the woods of Stone County on Wednesday. A Harrison County Sheriff's helicopter flushed out the two, and they've been sent back to Jones County.

Simon remains in jail without bond. Officials with the Jones County Sheriff's Department said Bradley Simon is charged with kidnapping Courtney Dawn Beech. Simon and Beech have been missing since May 1.

Bradley Simon's initial appearance before a grand jury is Thursday, and his bond hearing is Friday morning.

Sgt. Jamie Tedford of the Jones County Sheriff's Department will interview Simon in a matter of hours to find out the motive, but Captain Sumrall said he presumes the motive had to do with an intimate relationship.

The Jones County Sheriff's Department said Courtney Dawn Beech is in a juvenile holding facility but has been in contact with her family members. Captain Sumrall also said Beech is doing well.

No Amber Alert was issued in this case.
