GEORGE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

The George County Sheriff's Department said the man who robbed a truck stop in George County on Sunday spoke with a "Cajun" accent.

George County Sheriff's deputies are actively searching for that man. He reportedly robbed the 4-Mile Truck Stop on Hwy 98 in George County around 4:40 a.m.

According to George County Sheriff Dean Howell, the suspect walked in the store with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded the store clerk hand him money.

Once the suspect got the money, witnesses said he fled the store on foot.

Witnesses described the man as approximately 5'5" to 5'59". Howell said witnesses recalled the suspect had a tan complexion. He was reportedly wearing a black hoody and dark jeans at the time of the robbery. They also said he spoke with a "Cajun" accent, Howell said.

Surveillance video is being examined. Howell said the suspect may have had an accomplice.

According to store employees and witnesses a man that matched the suspects' description was in the store last week. That man was captured on surveillance cameras. Witnesses said he allegedly walked around the store bought a drink and left.
