A passerby witnessed a couple's attempt to steal scrap metal in Jones County and notified the authorities on April 26.

The Jones County Sheriff's Department said Joseph Nathan Brashier and Kimberly Caron allegedly burglarized an unoccupied dwelling in the Shady Grove community.

Brashier is also being charged with possessing beer in a dry county. Caron is also being charged with possession of paraphernalia. Both remain in jail on a $10,500 bond.

Sheriff Alex Hodge says he thanks the individual's tip in the case.
