Clarksville man found shot to death in Madison

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man found shot dead in the middle of a street in Madison overnight was a fugitive from Montgomery County.

The victim, identified as Joshua Antoine Henry, 24, of Clarksville, TN, was found around 12:40 a.m. near the intersection of Myatt Drive and State Route 45.

Police said two men were driving on State Route 45 toward Interstate 65 when they spotted the man in the road and called police.

Investigators said Henry was shot twice in the head. It's not clear if he was shot at the location or if he was killed elsewhere and then dumped on the road.

Detectives are working to determine why Henry was in Nashville and who was with him. A friend reported last seeing Henry in the Ninth Street area of Clarksville last week.

Henry was a convicted burglar in Montgomery County. He was granted a furlough in January to attend a treatment program in Memphis.

Henry left Synergy of Memphis on Feb. 11 against staff advice. He was supposed to return to the Montgomery County Jail within 24 hours of leaving the treatment facility, but he did not return.

Montgomery County authorities issued an escape warrant on Feb. 14. A Montgomery County judge ordered him held without bond upon his arrest.

Police are asking the public to give them a call if they were in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious.
