PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A 5-year-old boy battling brain cancer was granted his wish on Monday: a trip to the zoo.

He told Make-A-Wish Arizona that his one true wish was to go to the zoo so he could "be outside and see as many animals as possible, feed animals or pet baby animals," according to the foundation.

Make-A-Wish arranged for his family to spend the day behind the scenes at the World Wildlife Zoo & Aquarium in Litchfield Park.

On this day 33 years ago, Make-A-Wish Arizona was founded in Phoenix, granting a wish for an 8-year-old boy with Leukemia.
