BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

The new fishing bridge behind the Palace Casino in Biloxi will officially open next week. It was supposed to be finished last month, but crews are still working to fix an electrical problem with the lights.

Construction on the $9 million project began early last year. The fishing bridge features two 11-foot traffic lanes, sidewalks on both sides, and lighting. It also has vehicle turn arounds at the midway point and at the end of the span.

Hurricane Isaac delayed the work last summer. W.C. Fore was the primary contractor on the project, which was paid for with FEMA funds.

Even though the official opening isn't until next week, some area fishermen have already been using it.
