Police investigating allegations East Texas teacher had improper relationship with student

OVERTON, TX (KLTV) -

Overton police have confirmed they are investigating allegations that an Overton ISD teacher had an improper relationship with a student.

Police Chief Clyde Carter said right now, they do not have any physical evidence there was an improper relationship. Chief Carter said they are "investigating rumors."

Overton ISD Superintendent Alan Umholtz confirmed the teacher resigned today for "personal reasons."

Because charges have not been filed, KLTV 7 will not disclose the name of the teacher at this time.

    After losing the first two games of the season by a combined five points, Collins has won 12 consecutive games to advance to the class 2A South State title. The Tigers (12-2) defeated Bay Springs 22-8 on Friday to advance to a south state matchup against Taylorsville (13-1). Collins scored twice in the fourth quarter to overcome the Bulldogs on the road. "I feel great," said Collins head coach Eric Booth, a former USM running back.
