Hattiesburg Zoo celebrates birthday with new exhibits
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
The Hattiesburg Zoo celebrated its 63rd birthday with the return of their annual Birthday Bash on Saturday.
Dozens of residents arrived early and waited patiently for the opening of the zoo as they were anxious to see the unveiling of the new exhibits.
Before showcasing the new animals, a ribbon cutting was held for each of the exhibits. Mayor of Hattiesburg, Johnny DuPree, cut the leopard printed ribbon at the African region of the Zoo, and also cut the pink feathered ribbon located at the South America region.
The Hattiesburg Zoo Birthday Bash celebrated its continuation of progress with their new flamingo and zebu exhibits.
Sponsored by Forrest General's Cancer Center, the new pink Chilean flamingo exhibit showcased 22 of the tropical birds.
Along with enjoying the new exhibits, residents also enjoyed hourly celebrations, animal encounters, a wildlife show, unlimited train and carousel rides, pink cupcakes and much more.
