Forrest County community suffers damage from storms

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

In the aftermath of Thursday's severe thunderstorms, several large trees were blown down in the Macedonia Community in northeast Forrest County.

A tree fell on a house on Bolling Drive, but no one was home at the time.

Forrest County Emergency Management Director Terry Steed said, "It looks like it's straight-line winds, probably a downburst which could have been 70, 80, 90 mph winds. I don't see any evidence of twisting, which would have been an indication of a tornado."

A roll up door at the nearby fire station was also damaged.
