Southern Miss’ Newman receives Health Financial Management Honor

Dr. Ray G Newman, chair of The University of Southern Mississippi's Department of Community Health Sciences, has received the Founders Medal of Honor Award for continued hard work and dedication to the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

HFMA, headquartered in Chicago, is the premiere professional financial association for healthcare in which Dr. Newman also is board certified as a Fellow.  

This prestigious award recognizes an individual who has been actively involved in HFMA for several years after earning the Muncie Gold Award, has provided significant service at the chapter, regional and/or national level, and remains a member in good standing. The Founders Award program is a personal incentive program designed to encourage, monitor and recognize individual involvement in HFMA.

    Over 200 plus people packed one of the ballrooms at the Thad Cochran building on the campus of Southern Miss on Tuesday night for the Mississippi House District seat 102 debate. The League of Women Voters Pine Belt and USM speech and debate team moderated the debate.  The four candidates who qualified for the election are Cory Ferraez, Missy Mcgee, Casey Mercier, and Kathryn Rehner.
