IRS investigates Integrity Tax in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

For weeks, Seven On Your Side has been hearing from people who say they are displeased with the service of Integrity Tax in Hattiesburg.

Last week we shared a story of a man, William Beverly, who only made around $3,800 in 2012. Beverly said after Integrity Tax finished filing his taxes he was going to get a refund back for roughly the same amount. However, Beverly said much of the information on his tax forms were made up, and totally different from what was on his W-2.

"I never signed for my taxes to be filed," said Beverly. "I only provided Integrity Tax with a W2 form and my I.D."

According to IRS officials and tax experts, if someone is caught putting false information on their taxes both the tax-payer and the tax-payer can be held responsible.

The IRS is well aware of the reports against Integrity Tax. They say each report will be handled on a case by case basis.

IRS officials said if any paperwork was signed by the customer, both parties can be held responsible for misinformation found on federal forms.
