PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Spring training for the 2013 Cactus League season ended with a new overall attendance record, two games going into the record books and a ballpark setting an all time high attendance.

Fifteen different MLB teams played over 37 days of baseball in a total of 255 games at 10 different ballparks drawing a record number of 1.732 million fans. That is an increase of 20,000 fans from 2012.

The single game attendance record was set March 23 at Camelback Ranch during the Chicago White Sox versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. There were a total of 13,721 fans in attendance.

The World Champion San Francisco Giants versus the Chicago Cubs game on March 25 in Mesa went into the books as the 12th all-time Cactus League single-game attendance rankings where 13,374 fans came out to watch the game.

The last record broken came March 16 at the Goodyear Ballpark. This is the fifth year the ballpark has been open and a record attendance was logged for the San Francisco Giants playing the Cleveland Indians game with a total of 11,023 fans.

Fans and Cactus League officials are already looking forward to the 2014 Spring Training season with the opening of the new Chicago Cubs ballpark in Mesa.
