Authorities said the boys' parents, Josh and Sharyn Hakken, have been booked on federal charges of flight to avoid prosecution and several charges from the state of Florida, including: kidnapping, interference with child custody and false imprisonment.

Investigators said the couple took Chase, 2, and Cole, 4, from their grandparents' home in Florida last week and fled.

Officials said early Tuesday they believed a Florida couple suspected of kidnapping their two sons from the woman's parents are in Cuba.

Later, it was confirmed they were on the island-nation. CNN reported Cuba's government said it would turn the couple back to the US.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported it received information Monday that the Hakken family had arrived on the island-nation. Investigators said they're working with the FBI and the US State Department to verify their reports.

Louisiana State Police report the two children taken from their grandmother's home in Florida by their parents may be traveling by sailboat.

Troopers said the group is possibly on a 1972 Morgan Sailboat. It is 25 feet long and has the registration number: FL3717BK.

The hull is blue. The name "Salty" with a picture of a paw is located near the back of the hull on each side. The stern has "St. Petersburg" in white lettering.

The boat also has a blue Bimini top and when its sail is unfurled, it is white with blue trim.

An AMBER ALERT was issued after two boys were abducted Wednesday by their parents from their grandmother in Florida. In an update, the pickup truck thought to be driven by the father of the children has been found, and officials believe the family may be on a sailboat.

According to CBS, authorities on Thursday said they have had several reported sightings of the Hakken family in the past 24 hours, and efforts to track them down are now on a 24-hour cycle.

Authorities in Florida say Joshua Hakken, 35, broke into the Tampa home of his mother-in-law Patricia Houser around 6:30 a.m., tied her up, took Chase and Cole Hakken, ages 2 and 4, and stole her car.  The car was found.

Houser had just been given permanent custody by Louisiana's Department of Children and Family Services.

After several hours, Houser was able to free herself and call 911 from her home in Tampa. Hakken and his wife, Sharyn Hakken, 34, are believed to be in the Slidell, LA area.

The Hakkens were thought to be driving a black GMC pickup with Florida license plate U95KT with University of South Florida tags. Now officials believe the family may be on a sailboat that Hakken recently purchased. It is a 25-foot sailboat.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says the couple has previously attempted another abduction in at gunpoint in Louisiana.

Louisiana State Police say the Hakkens should be considered armed and dangerous.

Joshua Hakken is described as having brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5' 9" and weighs about 175 pounds.

Sharyn Hakken is described as having brown hair and hazel eyes. She is 5' 4" and weighs about 150 pounds.

If you spot the couple or the children, you are urged to call 813-247-8200, or call 911 or your local law enforcement agency.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Florida is working closely with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI on leads, but officials said there are still many unsorted details and the whereabouts of Joshua, Sharyn, Cole and Chase Hakken is unknown.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has issued a statewide alert after a reported sighting in southeast Tennessee. Someone reported seeing the family's car near Etowah, which is just northeast of Chattanooga.

Deputies say they the couple should be considered armed and dangerous.

The boys are two and four years old. Chase is 3 feet tall and 33 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Cole is three-foot-nine and 44 pounds.  He also has brown hair and brown eyes.
