A domestic assault led to a high-speed chase in Jones County on Wednesday.
The sheriff's department said Jeffery Hicks, Jr. and his mother were involved in a fight, and they allege Hicks physically abused his mother. She later called 911 after Hicks left the home.
As a deputy interviewed the mother, officials noticed a Nissan Altima with a driver matching Hicks' description. Authorities noted that Hicks was driving with an unidentified passenger.
A high-speed chase followed for more than 13 miles at speeds exceeding 90 miles an hour. Hicks was arrested and formally charged Wednesday with felony aggravated assault and eluding law enforcement as well as assault on a deputy and kidnapping.
