WDAM Viewpoint- Welcome Dr. Bennett

We'd like to congratulate and wish the very best to Dr. Rodney Bennett as he takes over today as the 10th president of the University of Southern Mississippi.  Thanks as well to Interim President Dr. Aubrey Lucas who stepped in once again to fill the gap until a permanent replacement could be found.  Hopefully we will not be in that predicament again.  Dr. Bennett comes to us after serving as vice president for student affairs at the University of Georgia.  Dr. Bennett has received nothing but high marks and praise from all those who have met him that we've talked to.  All leaders have their own particular style, strengths and weaknesses.  We trust Dr. Bennett's pros far outweigh any cons he might have and that he is just the kind of leader Southern Miss needs going forward in the second decade of the 21st century.  Let's make him and his family feel welcome and right at home and give him room to grow and support to do the things he needs to do to set and keep the university on the right track in all areas.  So welcome and best wishes to Dr. Rodney Bennett…as of today the president of the University of Southern Mississippi.  I'm Jim Cameron—write and let us know what you think.
