HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg city officials are studying a new plan that was presented Thursday night to revitalize the Hardy Street corridor. Consultants, planners and engineers met with residents at Hardy Street Baptist Church to go over the plan, which was put together with the help of local citizens and business people.

It's part of a process to update the land development code.

Meetings will be held in the coming months to solicit ideas from the public about changes to other neighborhoods.

"We're taking that plan and taking things that the people said in there and refining it to areas like sidewalks and bike paths and underground utilities and all those things, housing that people are really interested in and makes your community what it is," said Johnny Dupree, mayor of Hattiesburg.

Upcoming meetings will discuss Country Club Road, Pine and Broad streets, Edwards Street and other areas.
