Low temperatures affect farms throughout Mississippi

Posted: Updated:

On Wednesday morning the temperature got down to 28 degrees, which is technically classified as a "hard freeze" making it the 3rd latest hard freeze on record since 1964.

Manager at Blue River Farm & Nursery, Greg Saulters, tried to prevent the blueberries from frost damage, but the low temperatures still managed to ruin half of the 64 acres farm.

According to Greg, the last time the farm went through conditions like this was in 2009.

Greg says the blueberry farm, which is located in the Hot Coffee Community, wasn't the only farm affected. He says many other blueberry farms throughout the state of Mississippi were also affected by the low temperatures.
