Wayne County man formally charged with capital murder

WAYNE COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Gerangie  Cooper of Quitman made his first appearance in Wayne County Court Wednesday morning. He is charged with capital murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old Charles Giles.

Giles body was found with a bullet wound to the head Tuesday morning on a dirt road off Eucutta-Shubuta RD.

Cooper is also charged with armed robbery, arson, and possession of firearm by a convicted felon.

Sheriff Darryl Woodson says the motive for murder was robbery and says the suspect had no prior connection to the victim

Bond was set at five-million-dollars for the capital murder charge and $500,000 for each of the other three charges.
