USM students scatter across Pine Belt for a day of community service

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The University of Southern Mississippi's Student Government Association held their 4th Annual Big Event on Saturday.

As part of the Big Event, more than 600 USM students scattered across the Pine Belt for a day of community-wide services.

Once receiving their work assignments, students divided into groups and helped out at Edwards Street Food Pantry, the Salvation Army, Southern Pines Animal Shelter, and Thames Elementary School.
