COLUMBIA (WDAM) -

Members from various pipeline unions remain in Columbia protesting Loutex Contractors.

Loutex is a non-union construction company hired by Kinder-Morgan to complete the Parkway Gas Pipeline Project. Union members say they lost out on jobs due to Loutex's ability to offer substandard wages and no benefits to its employees.

Some in Columbia are happy Loutex is there, because union or non-union, they're creating tax revenue  boosting the local economy.

Union officials say they hope to raise public awareness of what they say is low pay and lack of benefits at non-union contractors.
