NEWS RELEASE FROM SOUTHERN MISS
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – After reaching the Conference USA championship game
for the first time in school history, Southern Miss earned a one-seed in this
year's National Invitation Tournament.
The Golden Eagles will
host eighth-seed Charleston Southern, the Big South regular season champion,
this Wednesday, Mar. 20 at 8:15 p.m. CT.
If USM were to defeat the
Buccaneers, it would face the winner of No. 4 Florida State (18-15) and No. 5
Louisiana Tech (26-6).
This will be Southern
Miss' ninth NIT appearance, and the first since 2001. The Golden Eagles have a
6-7 record all-time in the NIT. It is also just the fourth time that Southern
Miss will host a postseason game.
This will be the
first-ever meeting between Southern Miss and Charleston Southern.
CSU comes into the
tournament having won three of its last four games. The Buccaneers fell in the
Championship Game of the Big South Tournament, 87-76, to Liberty.

Tickets are $20 for courtside and floor seats, $15 for chairbacks, $10 for
adult general admission, and $5 for youth and student general admission.
Chairback and courtside
season ticket holders have until Monday at 8p.m. to buy their same seat.
