WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace says a sixth teen has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Kemarvin Stamps March 16.
Romaire Brown, 16, was arrested at this home in Vicksburg Wednesday afternoon. He is being charged as an adult, according to Pace.
Pace wouldn't give information on the role Brown or the other five teens who've been arrested allegedly played in the shooting.
Stamps of Vicksburg died at 3:55 p.m. March 16 in the intensive care unit of the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was shot in the head around midnight that day in the 4900 block of Gibson Road.
"The one that did survive has spoken with us and gave us an excellent description of the vehicle. We were able to recover that vehicle. We have the truck impounded that was driven that night, so we have the vehicle and we have three of the occupants," said Sheriff Pace.
Pace says the three occupants have been charged with murder. Melvin D. Wiggins Jr., 18, is the suspected driver of the vehicle. De'Mario Mixon, 19, and Christopher Devon James, 19, were allegedly passengers in the vehicle.
Two other teens were arrested and charged later.
Marquis Black, 15, of Vicksburg was arrested March 21 at a house on Mitchell Avenue in Jackson by the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force. Pace says Black was immediately certified to stand trial as an adult because of a previous adult felony armed robbery charge.
Devontae Montgomery, 19, was picked up in Bell County, Texas, on March 26.
