The Walk MS Hattiesburg kickoff luncheon was held Tuesday afternoon at McAlisters Deli on Hardy St.
The luncheon was held in conjunction with Multiple Sclerosis Awareness week which runs through Sunday.
The Hattiesburg Multiple Sclerosis Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April, 27 on the Long Leaf Trace starting on the Southern Miss campus.
The walk raises money for Multiple Sclerosis research and is a rallying point of the MS movement bringing the community together to celebrate hope for the future.
"Multiple Sclerosis is one of those diseases that affects a lot of people and you may not know it," said Robin Rae Burns, MS Society, Mississippi, Alabama Chapter. "We really want for awareness to come out of it. This is a big fund raising event for us that enables us to fund research and continue our advocacy efforts."
In support of MS Awareness week many people will be wearing orange on Wednesday.
