Walt Cartier, former Forrest County school superintendent, dies
A former superintendent of the Forrest County school district has died.
Walt Cartier worked his way up from janitor, bus driver, teacher, principal and five-term superintendent of the district. Cartier also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II – and graduated from Southern Miss.
Surviving relatives include his wife Joyce, two sisters, a niece and nephew. In lieu of flowers the family requests monetary donations to Central Baptist Church's missions. Walt Cartier was 84.
