Richton baseball player recovers after scary moment

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Richton High School supporters and fans relived a nightmare on Friday night during their baseball team's game against Sacred Heart in the North Forrest Tournament. Still coping with the death of their friend and teammate Alex Lott to a neck injury in late November of 2012, the Rebels watched as senior pitcher and Lott's life-long friend Landon Mayo slid to home plate hard, and was knocked unconscious.

An ambulance was called in, while Mayo lay unconscious for nearly ten minutes. He was transported to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, where he had X-Rays taken. A source said Mayo later sat up, was responsive and doing well.
